DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. – Midshore Meals til Monday has gotten a new refrigerated truck.

The new state-of-the-art truck will allow organizations to deliver weekend food bags to children. It will also help address food insecurity across the area.

With the ability to store frozen foods, executive director Pam Allen believes it gives them greater expansion. “Farmers and organizations who want to donate watermelons or sweet potatoes, this truck will allow us the ability to pick those large items up.”

Allen also said the program can grow exponentially. “Part of our program is to ensure not only perishable foods, but fresh foods. That’s something we would love to do.”

Meals til Monday made this possible, with sponsors ‘No Kid Hungry,’ the Rural Maryland Council and other groups. They all provided the grant funding for the project.
