Meet the New Director

Pam Allen, Director, Midshore Meals til Monday

Midshore Meals til Monday (MtM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pam Allen as the incoming  Director of the organization. Leslie Bishop, the founder and current Director of MtM is retiring from the position, but plans to remain involved in the organization in a senior advisor role. Pam was born and raised in Cambridge and is a graduate of Cambridge South Dorchester High School. She has deep roots in the community and enjoys spending time with her  family and friends in her free time. Pam earned her undergraduate degree in Engineering Technology from University of Maryland Eastern Shore and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, CA. Pam also earned a Project Management Masters Certificate from George Washington University School of Business and is a Certified Community Health Worker and trainer with the state of Maryland. Her previous work experience includes 25 years working for the Navy as a Deputy Department Head for Naval Intelligence, followed by more recent positions in project management and project coordination for Cambridge International and Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center.

Pam began volunteering for Midshore Meals til Monday in 2020 when the pandemic hit and volunteers were needed to distribute weekend food bags at schools and for the large food give-away events. She found she really enjoyed the community work and the positive experience of contributing to MtM’s important mission. Pam particularly enjoyed volunteering at the large food give-aways at South Dorchester K-8 School where she connected with the families and the volunteers and even discovered that the principal is a former high school classmate. She noted that the families at South Dorchester truly appreciated the food give-aways and were thankful for the help from the program.

When asked about her future goals for MtM Pam described her ongoing commitment to the main mission of reducing food insecurity experienced by residents of Dorchester County and her vision for how to accomplish this work. She would like MtM to help all populations by continuing to provide supplemental food to children, families, and individuals. One way of achieving this goal would be to expand MtM’s partnerships with other non-profit organizations and Dorchester Public Schools. This might include MtM’s participation in more community events such as hosting a table at back-to-school night or math night, and increasing participation in fund-raising events such as organizing volunteers to help out at the IRONMAN race and other events. Also part of Pam’s vision for the future of MtM is expanding opportunities for volunteers to contribute in meaningful ways to the mission. Ultimately, Pam’s goals are to partner with other organizations, develop strategic relationships, expand fundraising efforts, and increase the ways MtM’s volunteers work alongside their community partners to reduce food insecurity in Dorchester County. The entire Midshore Meals til Monday community extends a warm welcome and best wishes to Pam as she begins her new role as Director
